No, I have not embarked on a cage fighting career!!! On Saturday, June 13, 2015, I participated in the American Cancer Society Roseville-Eastpointe 24 Hour Relay for Life. This year marked my 8th year walking in the Roseville-Eastpointe Relay, and my 12th year participating in Relays.
This year was an especially emotional year as it was the first Relay without my dear friend, Kathy Smith. Kathy was taken from us last July — another victim of this horrific disease. Kathy was team captain, as well as being the event Committee Chair for the past few years. She never gave up hope for a cure.
Our team, Kathy’s Krew, had two mottos: “Support the Cause to Ensure the Cure” and “We Walk For Those Who Can’t”. We added one more this year: “We Continue the Fight For Those Who Have Lost Their Battle”.
We all know someone who has been stricken with cancer — it may even be you. As long as I am alive, I will continue the fight.
