Giving Back Through Mediations

Each year I participate in a Mediation program offered by The Resolution Services Center (RSC) of Central Michigan. The RSC is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization which helps parties resolve conflict, make decisions about difficult situations, and develop plans of action which are mutually acceptable to all parties. The Training programs are designed to assist all parties involved to come together in a positive and nonthreatening environment in hopes to resolve their issues and avoid further litigation or often times, avoid litigation all together. To date, I have completed three (3) successful mediation assignments. This program has allowed me to give back to the community by sharing my legal knowledge and understanding of the law, while meeting a diverse group of people. Each situation being a unique one, challenges me to learn something new, while assisting the parties in coming to a positive resolution, avoiding unnecessary litigation costs and putting the conflict in the rear view mirror. On average a mediation lasts 2-4 hours and is used by parties who do not have the financial resources to pursue litigation.
